What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a proven method for straightening teeth using a series of nearly undetectable, custom-made, clear plastic aligners. These trays are sometimes referred to as “invisible braces.” Invisalign can correct bite alignment, straighten tooth irregularities, and improve your smile and profile, while keeping your teeth healthy.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign uses 3-D computer imaging to map your entire treatment and create your unique series of clear trays, each of which is produced with exact calculations to gradually shift your teeth into place. Your Invisalign trays are custom-made for your teeth and your teeth only, with a plan devised by you and Dr. McDill. You wear each set of trays for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each tray with the next in the series, your teeth will move little by little, week by week, until they have straightened to the final desired position.
What are the benefits of Invisalign?
Because Invisalign doesn’t involve metal wires or food restrictions, it can be an excellent alternative to traditional braces, as well as the perfect way to straighten teeth without having to make a significant lifestyle change. With Invisalign, you can also view your virtual results and treatment plan before you start, so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
How long with the total treatment take?
Your Invisalign treatment time will be determined by Dr. McDill, based on your specific needs. Keeping that in mind, total treatment time averages between 9 and 15 months, though it will vary from person to person.
