Dr. Mathias McAfee grew up in Northern California, where his proximity to both Silicon Valley and his family’s farm taught him some of life’s most valuable lessons. From a young age, Dr. Mathias embraced the importance of technology and innovation. At the same time, his summers spent tilling fields on a tractor and selling raw milk at the farmer’s market showcased his love and respect for his family’s agricultural roots. These experiences instilled in him core values including hard work, compassion, determination, patience, and communication, which are reflected in his dedication to providing compassionate and exceptional care to his patients. Interestingly, Dr. Mathias’ journey into dentistry started as a chairside assistant, giving him a deep understanding and appreciation of all roles within the practice. He also saw the positive impact a dentist could have on people’s lives. His brief time as an assistant, along with his admiration for his family dentist, fueled his dream to become a dentist himself. Dr. Mathias’ passion for various dental specialties led him to focus on general dentistry, where he helps patients with a wide range of treatments, from restoring smiles and preserving teeth to providing dental implants. Dr. McAfee earned his dental degree with highest honors from the University of Southern California and his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Puget Sound. Following graduation, Dr. McAfee completed his general practice residency at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine, receiving advanced training in complex clinical and overall patient care. In his down time, Dr. Mathias is an all-around athlete and sports fan. He played competitive ultimate frisbee in college and loves cheering on his favorite professional baseball and basketball teams, including the Denver Nuggets, San Francisco Giants, and the Golden State Warriors. Dr. Mathias is happy to be a part of the beautiful Boulder community, where he and his wife, Megan, a personal trainer, love hiking and playing frisbee with their beloved rescue dog, a Golden Collie named Hope. Everyone was extremely pleasant and welcoming. The hygienists and dentists were gentle, thoughtful, explanatory and friendly throughout my appointment. Their offices are extremely clean and nice to be in. Also, they provided great clarity around costs and billing for everything, discussing it and making you aware of costs before doing anything. I highly recommend this place. I hadn’t been to the dentist since 2013 and was nervous about this appointment for a variety of reasons. Not only did I receive high quality care from extremely professional people, but everyone was incredibly calm, kind, and thoughtful. I laid back looking at the flatirons while they took care of my oral health and left feeling well cared for and calm.
